While this practice is commendable it is not the most profitable. Most of the coffee purveyors stock one or two, shade grown, organic coffees and pad out their bottom line by buying into the usual fare.
A point not often considered about Fair Trade, is that you can pay a fair price for the coffee beans, but not being organic or shade grown negatively impacts the community who farm it and the earth it’s grown in.
